Marking the conclusion of Generation Equality’s initial five years, the 2026 Publications present a consolidated body of evidence and insights on progress, results, and lessons learned across the Action Coalitions and the Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action Compact. Drawing on findings from across sectors, constituencies and geographies, they demonstrate how resources have been mobilized, commitments implemented, and meaningful change achieved for women and girls.

The publications also identify persistent gaps, structural challenges, and key lessons from applying a multistakeholder partnership approach at scale. Together, these insights aim to strengthen accountability, inform the next phase of Generation Equality, and support the continued evolution and uptake of collective action to accelerate gender equality.

Future of Generation Equality

Generation Equality concludes its first five-year phase and enters a new stage focused on sustaining and expanding its impact through continued multistakeholder collaboration. The Action Coalitions and Compact have shown that shared leadership, intergenerational partnerships and collective accountability can drive meaningful progress for gender equality.

Looking ahead, Generation Equality will evolve into a more decentralized, flexible and partner-driven platform. Action Coalitions and the Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action Compact will continue to lead implementation, adapting to different contexts while deepening collaboration, mobilizing resources and strengthening locally grounded action.

The initiative will shift toward lighter, distributed coordination, enabling greater partner ownership while maintaining shared priorities and accountability. In a context of rising inequality, shrinking civic space and increasing backlash, Generation Equality will continue to serve as a platform for coordinated advocacy, innovation and collective action to accelerate gender equality.
